He is currently running a Cinema and Human Rights Project at UNIJUÍ which aims to make knowledge about human rights more accessible through cinematography and film.

He received his Post-Doctorate in Law and Theory in 2019 at the University of Westminster School of Law.
Mateus is a Professor at the Universidade Regional do Noroeste do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
